RAID THE RIDE: Alleycat Race

Last June, precisely on June 17th 2023, Chrome Industries Indonesia threw an Alleycat Race for urban cyclists based in Jakarta, Indonesia. According to an article on superlive.id, the termAlleycat Race refers to a full-speed biking event whereas the participants will have to collect checkpoints and dodge cars and people passing by on busy streets, in some of the world's largest urban centers. This thrilling race was first introduced in 1983 at Toronto, Canada, and has been a culture among urban cyclists ever since.

The Alleycat Race thrown by Chrome Industries is a collaboration with House of The Rising Sun Panglima Polim; a street-styled bike wholesaler. The event is calledRaid The Race,because we aim to create a race with an exciting atmosphere that feels like going to war & raiding to victory. 

In this race, there are 5 checkpoints that every participant must visit to collect stamps in order to proceed with the race until the finish line. These 5 checkpoints are:

1. RPTA TAMAN GAJAH - RPTRA Taman Gajah, Jalan Cipete III
2. NASI GORENG JACOB - Jl. Taman Kemang II 
3. Indomaret Melawai - Jl. Melawai Raya No.17 Melawai, Kebayoran Lama, Jl. Melawai

4. Taman Mataram - Jl. Sisingamangaraja 
5. Taman Cemara - Jl. Bakti I

In order to participate in the race, every participant must sign up days before the race. Then, everyone must gather at House of The Rising Sun at 07.00 WIB sharp. Afterwards, there are several pre-race pep talks; this includes terms and conditions for the race. The main thing all participants must remember is they have to shop at least Rp 20.000,- that consists of 2 bottles of 1,5L mineral water & chocolate as an energy bar when they make it to the third checkpoint. Lastly, they may proceed with the race! The winner of the race is the first person who collected all stamps & made it first back to the base (House of the Rising Sun Panglima Polim). Imagine the thrill! 

There are 3 winners for this race. Each got special prizes including an exclusive shopping voucher at MORE by Morello. How cool is that?! See winners at @chrome_idn

This event is not only about bike races. There are also other games and activities held inRaid the Ride: Alleycat Race. Everyone who gathered on the spot were able to look at exclusive Chrome Industries goods that were being displayed inside the store. Even some of the participants are spotted using Chrome Industries bags to haul their gears during the race.
